It’s actually the first.
Spider-Man (2002)
That’s the one where the green goblin Power Ranger kidnaps Gwen, (recast
with Mary Jane), and throws her off the bridge, but she survives and the
goblin manages to impale himself. I suppose it’s more bitter, sweet that
I’m happy, but it sure as hell of a lot happier than how it originally
played out in the comics. One of the worst writers in Hollywood rewriting
one of the worst writers in comics.

Spider-Man 2 (2004) is the one with the CGI doctor octopus. Rewritten by
the only two big writers in Hollywood that are worse than the guy who wrote
the first one. Spider-Man manages to outrun the atomic explosion. Doc Ock
doesn’t and dies horribly (he will get better). Mary Jane leaves the
werewolf at the altar, and tells Peter she loves him. Harry finds the green
goblin Power Ranger lair and seven Zark seven welcomes him to the dark
side.

It doesn’t end in any way shape or form happy or otherwise. A half a dozen
plot lines just abruptly stop.

Spider-Man 3 (2007) is the big fat mess with the horribly miss cast Topher
Grace as venom, and a horribly miss cast Bryce Dallas Howard as the Gwen
Stacy, you want to die. Also, starring the drunk Zephram Cochrane as the
captain Stacey you want to die. And that airplane mechanic guy from wings
as a passable Sandman.

It ends with the new Power Ranger green goblin that Peter deformed dying
somewhat inexplicably not to mention unimaginatively. Despite the fact that
the drunk Captain Stacy told him that the Sandman is the real guy who
murdered uncle Ben (huh?) Peter lets the Sandman go free. Gwen just goes
away. Despite being vaporized, along with its host, the venom symbiont is
still out there. Mary Jane, who has inexplicably developed a series of
talents, including actress, and singer and supermodel, none of which she’s
good at (think of Jennifer Lopez) dances with Peter. I guess that’s a happy
ending?

The last thing I want to do is hurt you, but it is still on my list.

Miles Morales was an obvious attempt to capitalize on the short-lived Obama-
