H.264 vs. H.265

H.265 provides better compression efficiency, it requires more processing power to encode and decode video, meaning that it may not be the best choice for older or less powerful devices. H.264, on the other hand, requires less processing power, making it more efficient on older or less powerful devices.

H.265 is generally superior to H.264. For both encoding and transmitting, it uses half as much bandwidth as H.264 while maintaining the same level of visual quality.

mime note: h.265 mkv video files will NOT play natively on the Chromebook, but if the file is stored and streamed FROM the PLEX server, the file playback is excellent on the chromebook or the $20 Walmart 4K stream box/dongle.
