That's because you aren't Michael Douglas acting in movies in which
his female co-star wants to kill him or destroy him. There's a whole
genre of "women want to murder or destroy Michael Douglas" movies! I'm
surprised Arthur hasn't done a theme night! Disclosure, Basic Instinct,
Fatal Attraction

That's funny - there's another more recent movie you can add to that
list, but if I tell you what it is, it's kind of a "spoiler"!!

I had no idea such a genre existed. But I *think* I paired Fatal
Attraction and Basic Instinct last year.

Deborah Kara Unger in "The Game?"

I would mention “A Perfect Murder“ but that’s the one where the audience
all wanted Gwyneth Paltrow dead. On and off screen.

I never mention that movie because it sucks. I watched it once, felt it
was a ripoff of Dial "M" for Murder (1954) and didn't initially realize
it was a remake fo that movie, not just a ripoff. The plot was a little
different.

Agreed it sucks, but that’s because it had an unhappy ending.

No. I dislike the movie because it compares unfavorably with the 1954
movie. Ray Milland was terrific, and Bob Cummings gave a decent dramatic
performance. Grace Kelly was good in the murder scene, although the rest
of the movie, her performance was created by the gowns Hitchcock chose
for her to wear. They got less colorful and greyer as the movie went
along. The plot is absurdly convoluted and it's best not to think about
it, especially as Tony explains to Capt. Lesgate exactly how he's
extorting him.

I have never joined you in your dislike of Gwynyth Paltrow's acting
ability. I watched Se7en a few weeks ago and really liked her in that.
Yes, the killer murders her. I liked Shakespeare in Love (1998) but
haven't seen it since I saw it in theater.

Bonk. Reading the Wikipedia article, I had no idea that Tom Stoppard
changed the ending to complete the parallel with Romeo and Juliet after
test screenings disliked portions of the movie. There's nothing subtle
about the parallels so I wonder what the original ending was that missed
the completely obvious.

If I met her in real life, yes, it would make my skin crawl.

You should’ve read further down. :-)

Alternate ending
An alternate ending exists and is presented, with optional commentary, on
the original Blu-ray disc release. In this version, Steven comes back from
finding the key replaced where he had hidden it and Emily confronts him in
the kitchen rather than in their foyer. The scene plays out with the same
dialogue, but Steven never physically attacks her. He still tells her that
the only way she'll leave him is dead, and she shoots him. Steven then says
"You won't get away with this" before dying and Emily purposely injures
herself, making it look like self-defense.

>
> If I met her in real life, yes, it would make my skin crawl.

This was the first I’d ever heard of the ignorant, worthless, vacuous,
murderous bitch. I saw her give interviews about how disgusting it was to
play Michael Douglas‘s wife, because he was so old. Douglas, who was a
family friend (and Likely got her the role) was unamused. it was her own
brie Larson moment before she went on to sell stuff to people that was
deadly.

I got bored. But I was reading the Wikipedia article about Tom
Stoppard's contribution to the script of Shakespeare in Love. He had
nothing whatsoever to do with [spit] A Perfect Murder.

The age difference was an important plot point in this and the Hitchcock
movie! I have no idea if it was an issue in the stage play.

Fine. I hate her more as a human being than I did before.

I don't hate her but I do think she's a bit of an idiot. She knew what
the story was and who else was being cast. So she knew the age
difference was there and took on the role anyway. So why take on a
role that you hate because of the age difference? Whatever the reason
she took on the role knowing what was involved so there's no excuse in
complaining after the fact.

>>Douglas, who was a

It's certainly the thing that isn't going to win her any friends if
that got around. If I were casting for a movie back then I would
certainly be leery of casting her for fear that there might be
something else that she dislikes and decides to speak out against the
movie after the fact because of her own likes and dislikes.

Don't complain anyway even if you aren't whining. It's totally
unprofessional. Your job, going on talk shows, is to publicize the movie
so that if any of your own defered compensation is based on gross, you
make more money.

Duh

Also, you might want to work with the same people in future, so keep
your complaints entirely to yourself.

She's actually brilliant. She's making millions on that magnificent

I stand by my original statement. It's just that she's lucked into
finding quite a few other women who buy into her brand of idiocracy.

I'm convinced it's all a massive troll. A conversation like this probably
happened over lunch with Gwyneth and her friends at the Ivy one day:

GWYNETH: People will buy anything from you if you're a celebrity.

FRIEND: Well, not anything. I bet you couldn't get them to buy crystal
'rejuvenation' eggs to shove up their vaginas or a candle that smells like
your hoo-ha.

GWYNETH: Hold my beer...

I don't remember the ending of the show. I know I must have watched it,
but it must have been so bland that nothing about it stuck. The same
thing came up the other day with The Flash. I had to double check if
the finale already aired or not.

I watched:

FX (blu-ray) 1986 action movie starring Bryan Brown as a movie special
effects expert who is hired to fake the death of a mobster (Jerry
Orbach) in the witness protection program. But he's double crossed and
winds up going on the run after a hitman sent to kill him ends up
killing his girlfriend. Brian Dennehy also stars as the cop looking
into the case who Brown winds up teaming up with by the end. I think I
only saw this once before in the early 90s. It held up very well as a
nice thriller.

F/X2 (blu-ray) 1991 sequel which finds Bryan Brown reluctantly roped
into helping the police with his special effects expertise. This time
he thinks he's helping to catch a stalker, but once again falls victim
to a double cross and has to team up with Brian Dennehy (who after the
events of the first movie is now a private investigator). The two once
again catch the crooks and save the day using Brown's skills as a
special effects expert. The "special effects" he pulls off in this
movie is pretty ridiculous, but you just have to roll with it. I
remember when this movie came out the advertising campaign was pretty
good and at the time, I had no idea the first movie even existed but for
this one was clearly labeled as part 2, which alerted me to its'
existence. I haven't watched this since the time of the original
release. It holds up well enough. I think this is probably the first
time I've watched both movies back-to-back and in the proper aspect ratio.

Blame It on the Bellboy (blu-ray) 1992 comedy starring Bronson Pinchot
as a bumbling hotel bellboy who mixes up three guests from England who
are vacationing in Italy. Dudley Moore plays a Guest named Melvyn Orton
who is in Italy to look at a property to purchase for his boss. Bryan
Brown plays a hitman named Mike Lorton who is in Italy to kill a mobster
(Andreas Katsulas from Babylon 5) and Richard Griffiths (from Harry
Potter movies) plays a man named Maurice Horton who is in Italy to cheat
on his wife with a computer date. After the mix-up Dudley Moore's
character is mistaken for the hitman and captured by the would be
target. Bryan Brown mistakes the computer date for the target of the
assassination. And Ricard Griffiths mistakes the real estate agent for
the computer date. Wackiness ensues! I saw this once in the theater
when it first came out and remembered really liking it. I bought the
movie then forgot about it until I noticed it also starred Bryan Brown
and figured now or never. It wasn't as funny as I remembered, but
thankfully it is mercifully short at only 78 minutes.

The Transformers: The Movie (4K disc) - The original 1986 animated movie
and still by far the best Transformers movie. It remains one of my
all-time favorite movies. I have been looking forward to this! I've
probably watched this more times than any other movie, and it never gets
old. PERFECT MOVIE. If you weren't between 7 and 10 years old in 1986
it is really hard to convey just how world changing this movie was at
the time. The movie opens and within the first minute an entire planet
gets destroyed. Completely wiped out. Then minutes later, the regular
heroes that us kids have been watching every weekday are brutally killed
off. One gets shot in the head point blank. And this is a cartoon for
kids! "I've got better things to do tonight than die." One of the best
movie deaths ever put on screen:
