They did a similar thing a few years ago when they nominated Peggy McCay for
Best Actress and she was probably on-screen less time than Wally. The
awards are kind of a joke and I doubt if many people take them all that
seriously.

Same with Thaao Penghlis last year, Tony was only in 24 episodes in 2019 which is less than Caroline was in 34 episodes in 2012 and 26 episodes in 2014, and Justin in 74 episodes last year (per Jason47’s year-by-year episode rankings.). James Reynolds won in 2018, Abe was in 62 episodes in 2017 which is less than Greg Vaughan, who won for Supporting Actor the same year, was in 98 episodes.

I remember that, I thought it was strange then too.

Y&R actually does a pretty good job of nominating talented actors that
are on screen a lot.

But I think some people (including myself) think of the emmies as the
General Hospital emmies. They always nominate several actors in
virtually every category and usually win most of the time as well. When
it's been shown on tv I have taped it and just watch the last few
minutes when they have the best leading actor/actress and best show.
