Class of '09 (Hulu) - "Graduation" (ep. #8, the finale).
I will wait for shawn's separate thread on this to comment more.
But this was an incredibly anticlimactic (and unsatisfying) finale.
The one good thing I can say about it is that, for once, the "Past"
(2009) segments were kept to the absolute minimum.

My Husband's Worst Mistake (LMN) - I was half-right - the blurb
describing this flick did describe event that happen in about the first
5 minutes of the film. But what I got wrong is the blurb was describing
not the titular "husband" in the film, but the film's *villain*!! No
wonder it didn't make any sense!
Anyway, this was OK.
Married dude has an affair at a conference. The woman he had the
affair with, who is also married, admits the affair to her husband, and
in the ensuing melee she falls down the stairs and dies. (So, it
unclear if this should be considered "murder" or "accidental homicide".)
Now the guy with the dead wife wants revenge! REVENGE!! and is
determined to ruin the life of the married dude who had the affair.
This plays out about like you'd expect.

Recorded for later: The RED REDDINGTON Showe!!

This will be a multi-day catch up. I watched:

Extraction (Netflix streaming) 2020 action movie starring Chris
Hemsworth as a private military contractor who is hired to save a drug
lord's son from a rival.

Extraction 2 (Netflix streaming) 2023 sequel. Chris Hemsworth returns
this time to extract the family of a Russian mobster from a prison where
the father is being held and he is forcing his wife and kids to live
there with him.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (Paramount+) - "Ad Astra per Aspera" -
Episode 2 which picks up where season 1 ended with Una Chin-Riley's
trial for being genetically engineered. I liked that the prosecuting
attorney was a Vulcan, and after Una's emotionally charged speech he
just got up and blew it off with, "That was a very emotional speech."

Secret Invasion (Disney+) - "Resurrection" - Nick Fury returns to Earth
to handle a Skrull invasion. Episode 1 was mostly set up.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - "Frank vs. Russia" - For reasons I
must have missed Frank cheats at chess all his way up to playing a Russian.

Superman & Lois - "Injustice" - Penultimate episode introduces Lex
Luthor (Michael Cudlitz) as a new antagonist. He's released from prison
after spending 15 years locked up on false charges that Lois helped to
spread. And he's a little annoyed at her. A little annoyed...

Family Guy - I caught up and finished the season.

The Walking Dead - "The Rotten Core," "Trust," and "Acts of God" -
Episodes 14-16 from 2022. I said I'd eventually get back to the show and
I finally did! I was completely lost with the first one but watching 3
back to back helped a lot with following what was going on. I need to
force myself to keep watching so I can follow along with the plot.

Asteroid City (theatrical) New comedy written and directed by Wes
Anderson. It has an all star cast too long to list but Anderson regular
Jason Schwartzman stars as a photographer in 1955 who takes his kids to
"Asteroid City" to visit a comet and do some stargazing at a convention.
While there things are thrown into chaos after an alien briefly makes
an appearance. This movie has a framing device where the movie itself
is actually a play being performed but instead of taking place on a
stage, the movie audience see it as an actual movie. Although a
hyper-realized movie with a very thin line between reality and the
fictional world of the play. This has to be the most Wes Anderson movie
he's ever unleashed! It's almost a parody of Wes Anderson movies. I'll
add there is a scene in this movie where a nuclear bomb is detonated.
And about that all I will say is Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer" has
*nothing* to worry about it.

As an aside, this had to have been one of the worst viewing experiences
I've had in a theater. There were two teens sitting a few seats from me
and they clearly did not want to be there. I don't know if there
parents dropped them off and used the movie as a babysitter or what.
But they were obnoxiously loud talking, kicking the railing, getting up
out their seats. They were clearly old enough to know better than to
act like that in a public theater, but then again plenty of adults have
done the same or worse.

How can an "enlightened" society like the Federation hold someone
criminally responsible for something they didn't actually do-- that was
done *to* them by someone else?

I was hoping you'd see this so I could determine what the hell it was
actually about and whether it was worth seeing or not. So thank you for
your service.

Seeing as you watched them back-to-back, I am curious to know which of
the two films you thought was better?

(And, ICYWW, there is a third "Extraction" film planned - someone in
RAT linked to a recent article talking about it.)

Again - am waiting for all episodes of this one to drop, and then I
will "binge" it. (Same with "Silo"... and I think something else that
is dropping right now.)

I am about 100% sure I would hate this - Wes Anderson movies are not my
thing at all... [shrug]

Exactly. This is explicitly mentioned during the trial. She literally
had no say over what her parents did to her before she was even born.
But basically she lied on her application. So she's not being charged
with being enhanced, she's being charged with lying about it.

TNG briefly touched on this in an episode where someone was charged with
lying on their application claiming he was half Vulcan when he was
really half Romulan.

I really have to emphasize the movie is very meta and breaks the 4th
wall constantly. It sort of felt like someone found a silly high school
play and decided to film it as a low budget movie with an all star cast.

It looks cheesy, but it's supposed to look cheesy.

If you don't like Wes Anderson you need to stay far, far away from this
movie! Watching this is like injecting a Wes Anderson movie straight
into your veins. He wasn't even trying to do anything different from
his usual schitct. Although I guess maybe the sci-fi aspect with the
alien was different, but even that got Wes Andersonized.

I forgot, I also watched:

Silo (AppleTV+) - "The Getaway" - Penultimate answer. Juliette is still
on the run but she's able to find a safe place where the audience can
get some exposition, I mean answers. I liked the episode but with only
one episode left I don't see how this show is getting resolved. I guess
that's why there's a season 2 on the way.

I participated in a survey for that movie but TBH, I have no recollection of
it now, tho I told them I wouldn't watch it.

I'm in the same boat. Haven't got to the finale since I've been tied
up doing other things so my TV watching this week has been severely
limited.

Another movie that I started and liked but ended up stopping and not
getting back to it.

Another show I need to get to. Did read a bunch of reviews that didn't
like the show because they thought it was going to be one thing and it
seems to be another. From what I gathered the show (at least in the
first episode) seems to be more of a spy show, while the ads suggest
it being more of an action show.

(SQUIGGLE!!!1!11!!).

Ian (I may also go back and watch "The Watchful Eye"

The only way that's comparable would be if there's a claim that the
genetic enhancement has national security implications. Does it?

Half Romulan half human living in either society, one is totally fucked.
Yes, I remember the stupid Denise Crosby episode. I hated the backstory.

The last episode won’t drop until the end of the month.

Serious question. Since silo has been renewed, are you willing to watch the
first season while waiting for the second or are you going to wait for the
whole series to drop?

I plan to watch "Silo" season #1 some time around the end of
June/beginning of July. I'm not going to wait until season #2.

(By the same token I will probably re-watch "Rogue One", and maybe "A
New Dope!", soon - I'm not going to wait until season #2 of "Andor" in
August 2024!!)

It’s hard to tell what it is so far except that it’s sort of unpleasant.
It’s so spoiler ridden it’s all but impossible to discuss. Only one episode
out of six is out so far so you have more than a month before you even need
to start watching it.

Heads up for people planning to watch shows on Paramount+ later. They
are cancelling a bunch of shows and removing them from the streaming
service June 30th. I had planned to watch Grease in August or
September, but now I'll be watching it tonight/this week.

Yep - they're beating their chests on Reddit about "Star Trek: Prodigy"
