David Dockery died.

One year ago today, Will Dockery continued to post all day without a word that his brother was wheeled out of the house.

Will Dockery is an empty vessel.

My poem for David Dockery, a man we all came to know, as we came to know all about Will Dockery, his complete life, from the hand of Will Dockery:

Into a Winter Sunset

We weren't yet told,
assuming you would just drift off
as an aged actor,
though your name appeared
as credits rolled,
fooling no one with the suggestion
you were nothing more
than a rumor.

This quiet one speaks out
from the ash,
'Look around, my cap is still there,
my shoes, my warm jacket'
and there they were,
along with simple smile
under a wool cap, as we say goodbye.
to this invisible friend.

That's a touching poem for a man who didn't deserve the unhappy life he had to lead.
