"La Brea" series on Hulu: s1e1 "pilot"
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11640018/

"A massive sinkhole mysteriously opens up in Los Angeles, separating
part of a family in an unexplainable primeval world, alongside a
disparate group of strangers."

4 out of 5 stars, has potential.

Also showing on NBC, Peacock, FuboTV.

Apparently inspired by "Lost".

According to some reviews it's good, according to others it's garbage.

Useless "Lost" - there goes any possible "potential" straight down the toilet.

Can it also be both? Some of it's not so bad, other parts are not so good.

Literally decades ago, when Black Holes first became a public thing, I
recall somebody retailing a SF convention about a proposal which was
pitched to a network. The premise was that a family found a black
hole in their backyard, managed to fall in, etc, etc. Looks like
somebody found that old proposal and updated it slightly, mostly to
include the obligatory wokeness.

I see that this Sunday, Oct. 10,
the first two episodes will be shown
on the Sci-Fi channel.

Always liked those 'lost world' movies.
Great plot idea.

The Land that Time Forgot with Doug McClure
is still one of my favorites.

Don't expect that from 'La Brea'. The producers have already said in
interviews that it is about the people and their relationships. I.E.
the 'Lost' model of soap opera.

Reviewing the Wiki page on 'Lost World' genre...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_world

At heart the early "Lost World' plots were a spin off
of Victorian era adventure-romance stories.

And as the world become more and more explored
those shifted to space for the unknown and
dangerous lands to explore. Or later even
other times.

A place where those that toiled unnoticed in
everyday society could become the hero.

Save the day and get the girl!

Perhaps the most enduring of all male fantasies.

BIG LIE From Wiki - "The German expression was coined by Adolf Hitler
when he dictated his 1925 book Mein Kampf, to describe the use of a lie
so *colossal* that no one would believe that someone "could have the
impudence to distort the truth so infamously."
