Here are some wrestling news items for you:

- NXT from last week opened with Mustafa Ali and Axiom fighting it out to determine the number one contender to the North American title. Ali defeated the masked man with a 450 splash. Blair Davenport faced Kelani Jordan Dana Brooke was with Jordan. Blair won won with a double foot stomp and a short-arm knee strike. In a bogus Heritage Cup title match, Noah Dar defended against Tyler Bate. The match was played until Heritage Cup rules. Bate won in five rounds to become the "champion." Trick Williams and Ilja Dragumov met and agreed to a match at Heatwave August 22. Bron Breakker then faced Von Wagner in a battle of second-generation Superstars. Wayne Bloom's son put Rick Steiner's kid into a table, but in the end Breakker won with a spear. Josh Briggs and Brooks Jansen faced Drew Gulak and Charlie Dempsey. Damon Kemp delivered a suplex to Jansen outside the ring, setting up Gulak and Dempsey's winning with another suplex. Kiana James defeated Ivy Nile with a Deal Breaker as Schism interfered on James' behalf. In the main event, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio defended the North American title against Dragon Lee, who had Rey Mysterio in his corner. Rhea Ripley hit Lee with her Women's title, setting up Dom's hitting a Michinoku driver to retain. After the match, Ripley got in the Hall of Famer's face until Lyra Valkyria came out and cleared Ripley out of the ring. In the ratings, NXT averaged 778,000 viewers, the most of any yellow brand episode so far in 2023.

- Remember Bray Wyatt? "The Eater of Worlds" has been out since February due to an undisclosed illness. His father Mike Rotunda says that Bray will return to the ring shortly. The one-time IRS also said his brother-in-law Barry Windham is recovering well from a heart attack in December 2022.

- Although Big E still hasn't returned to action, he will star in a family movie. Called F Plus, it stars UFC legend Randy Couture.
