His wife disappeared, never returning from work.

The police and her family knew where she was
but wouldn't tell him despite being the husband of the missing wife.

Turning up in a mental hospital after a search of her work insurance papers,
Dockery headed out to the place but was not allowed to see her.

His kid was with the mother of his wife but wasn't turned over to his care.

Was there an order of protection? Why couldn't he see his wife?

Did acid trips put her in the mental hospital?

Dockery had no money so couldn't afford quality drugs. He was probably having her sniff and swallow paint thinner and glue. She died of brain cancer in her early 40s.
