A Winnipeg man who lives in a posh neighbourhood with his parents, is
asking the court to stop the police from doing curfew checks to ensure
he is obeying bail conditions:

I really need to side with the judge who refused to stop the curfew
checks. If bail for these crimes is virtually never given due to their
seriousness, then the alleged gun manufacturer should shut his yap and
endure the curfew checks as graciously as he can rather than pissing and
moaning. If I'd been the judge, I might very have told him that if being
out under those conditions didn't suit him, he could go back to jail if
that suited him better.

However, I *can* sympathize with this man - and everyone else who has to
deal with the legal system in this country - at how long it takes for
cases to move through the courts. Occasionally, suspects are innocent
but innocent or guilty, everyone charged with something has a long wait
to establish that guilt or innocence. It cannot be a pleasant experience
to put your life on hold waiting for innocence to be determined.

Not to mention that the longer the trial period the more backbreaking
the legal bill.....what "average man in the street" could have
afforded OJ Simpson's defence?
