I bought a used DVD at a Friends of the Library book sale. It kept
stopping at a specific point, going back to the opening menu.

I finally realized: It's two sided! I guess DVDs only had an hour's
worth of material at one point.

Well, if the DVD spins at 33 and 1/3 RPM, you may have put it into the wrong player...
