So we're going to get another round of Biden and his people claiming credit
for gas prices falling.

But whenever gas prices go up, they duck criticism and say "The president
doesn't control the price of gas".

Which is it? Can't have it both ways. You can't claim credit for prices
dropping but say you're not to blame when they rise.

Apparently Biden is only responsible when the news is good. When the news is
bad, it's someone else's fault.

As I recall you were one of the ones blaming Biden for the high gas
prices so it's only fair for them (whomever they are) to claim him
responsible for gas prices going down.

Personally I've always found it hard to blame any President for the
rise and fall of prices of commodity's . At least over the short term.
Though introducing something like a hefty tariff is one way to have a
quick impact on prices. With gasoline there's little any President can
do to have a big impact on prices over the short term. Even releasing
gas from stockpiles won't do much to bring prices down but it looks
good from a political angle.

Sure you can if the reason for the rise is that you've imposed a new
gas tax. (That's the #1 reason why gas is so expensive in Canada and
especially in Vancouver where we have a gas levy to support the public
transit system. No levy on e-vehicles though....)

Oh, I think BTR is quite aware of the impact of gas taxes on the
price. California suffers from high gas prices because of those taxes.
If not for them the price would likely be half the current price.

And Biden isn't even claiming it, it's the newscasters.

1/2 may be an exaggeration but 1/3 >isn't< as shown by the picture in
the followng article
https://biv.com/article/2023/02/carbon-tax-gets-jacked-again-year#:~:text=As%20of%20April%202023%2C%20the,per%20litre%20provincial%20excise%20tax.

Gas in Canada is priced by the liter not the gallon but 78 cents tax
with a pump price of $ 2.03 is a little more than 1/3. (This is
roughly US$ 6.50 / US gallon)

This is for BC - you would have to ask Rhino for the comparable
numbers in Southern Ontario.

Well, I'm going by the price I heard from someone in California (Los
Angeles area) saying they were paying over $6/gallon while the current
price just down the street from me is $2.74/gallon. So a 50%
difference is fairly close.
