Paul Azinger was a starving professional golfer on the PGA tour starting
in 1981. He peaked 1987 as he began winning tournements. His career was
setback with a cancer diagnosis in his right shoulder of non-Hodkin
lymphoma. (I'm getting this from his Wikipedia page. Since when is
lymphoma site-specific and not body wide?)

While in recovery, he was recruited as an on-course reporter by NBC
Sports.

His most recent five-year contract with NBC Sports was not renewed, so
the Ryder Cup was his last broadcast.

No one has said why he didn't get a new contract.
