Yeah, that has to be one of the ugliest vehicles I've ever seen. Not for me,

There are quite a few videos showing the truck and discussing it's
features. Though no quirks and features video yet. I agree it's not
something I would want to drive but it clearly has garnered quite a
lot of interest.

It's a stupid design and they want $61,000 for it.

Tesla's "Model B" on the other hand, looks like a regular pick-up truck.

Still wouldn't but it.

After what I saw on YT today I wouldn't buy a Tesla. A man bought a
used low mileage Tesla (2019) model and drove it for a year putting on
about 100K miles on it. He was using it as a ride share vehicle six
days a week. That's all good but after crossing that 100K mileage the
charging changed.

Before he could always charge up to 100% if he wanted. After he
crossed that 120K mark he could charge the car overnight at his home
to 100%. Normally he would recharge during the day up to 75-80% but
after crossing that 100K mark the vehicle would only charge to about
35 miles during the day. That's miles not percentage.

So he goes to the dealer and they say this is to be expected. The only
option he has is to buy a new battery for over 9000 dollars. That's in
addition to the 40000 dollars he still owes on the vehicle.

I suspect this is an issue with all EVs, not just Tesla. But yeah, it's
tantamount to fraud if they're not being upfront and clear to consumers
about these kinds of issues.

An additional ~10 cents per mile. Not inconsiderable.

Not just crappy Tesla ... that's why you should never buy *any*
electric car. The battery pack replacements are insane expensive.
That's also why the second hand car market will get flushed down the
toilet.

Maybe. It depends upon how well they hold up over the years. There are
cases like this guy that I mentioned above and there's the case where
driving in some heavy rain somehow allowed water to get into the
battery of a Tesla forcing the owners to replace the battery pack.
Then there is the case of another guy whose video I watched today. At
200k miles the battery still charges up to about 90% of the original
capacity.

So if you get that sort of behavior (90% capacity after 200k miles)
then the replacement cost isn't a problem, but it's those other issues
that make me worry about owning an EV. That and the current issues
with charging on road trips with anything other than a Tesla. Those
issues may end up all being worked out but it will still take a few
years.

Obviously the owner does not intend to keep the vehicle long enough to
have to replace the battery:

https://www.recurrentauto.com/research/costs-ev-battery-replacement

Many Canadian provinces offer subsidies for purchase of electric
vehicles but we had an item in today's paper about a fellow getting a
bill for $ 15000+ for battery replacement on a vehicle he paid $ 40000
for not so long ago - he figured he was saving $ 300 / month on gas
but the battery replacement more than ate up his savings...

An e-car is just a big ass cellphone battery with wheels and we're all
familiar with how long those last but a $600 replacement cellphone,
(I just got an iPhone 13 Mini) is a lot easier to swallow then a $10K
car battery.

I'not opposed to the use of e-cars, as they make good sense for a
grocery-getter-commuter-car but _forcing_ everybody to get an e-car
is commie-pinko bullshit.

Electric vehicles truly force people to use public transportation.
That's what makes them so very green.

Given that it is supposed to be bulletproof, I wonder if it has a
future as a vehicle used by people concerned about possible
assassinations. Like presidents - and gangbangers....

Of course nothing is really bulletproof. At best, it will stop smaller
caliber rounds. You can simply use larger and larger rounds until you
finally get penetration, whether that means large caliber rifles, RPGs
or whatever....

Which makes them doubly not a good idea in rural areas
with NO public transportation and longer distances to
stores and services.

Not even just rural areas. The public transport here in Auckland, New
Zealand's biggest city, is pitifully bad and they keep raising the
prices (as well as claiming more from government / city council
funding). :-\

It is ugly, over-priced, over-hyped, and way behind schedule ... it is
already a flop, like everything else the idiot Musk Rat does. (Tesla is
even trying to give a $1000 bribe to get fools who pre-ordered a
Cybertruck to switch to another Tesla model.)

DeLorean is trying to make a comeback, but the "Cybertruck" won't even
make it to a proper release.
