FAMILY AFFAIR:
"Christmas Came a Little Early". "Family Affair" takes a serious tone as
Buffy raises false hopes for an incurably ill classmate. Hokey smokes!

THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES:
"Christmas At The Clampetts". Granny threatens to leave town with her money.

THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES:
"Christmas Present". The Clampetts take jobs to help Mrs. Drysdale, who they
think is broke.

PETTICOAT JUNCTION:
"Cannonball Christmas". "Scrooge" Bedloe tries to stop the Cannonball from
making its Christmas caroling tour.

PETTICOAT JUNCTION:
"The Santa Claus Special". "Scrooge" Bedloe tries to stop the Cannonball from
making its Christmas caroling tour. No, that is not a mistake. They used the
same script for both shows!

GREEN ACRES:
"An Old-Fashioned Christmas". Oliver wages war against Christmas
commercialism.

THE LOVE BOAT:
"A Christmas Presence". Mickey Rooney is an angel or elf or something
Xmas and magical who meddles in the lives of some Mexican orphans,
Donny Osmond and Marcia Brady (who want to adopt one), and a couple
thieves who stole some gold disguised as tacky nativity scene figures.
I didn't watch it all but I am sure I recapped it before.

KRAPOPOLIS:
"Ty's Tail Tale". When Tyrannis is possessed by his deceased grandfather who
rules with fear and a large scorpion tail, Shlub must fight to bring back the
old Tyrannis. After Hippocampus and Stupendous bring a pregnant pegasus home,
they release a range of mythical monsters to control the pegasus babies that
terrorize the city. I guess we really should have wondered why Tyrannis
doesn't look like his parents before now. The description of the Pegasus
story was incorrect, but I do enjoy the twists on what we know about classic
mythology.

FAMILY GUY:
"Baking Sad". Meg discovers her tears produce delicious cookies, and she,
along with her siblings, enjoy a profit until the success makes her too happy
to cry. Meanwhile, Peter and the guys launch a "male talk show".
This one was OK, but I had a strange sense of deja vu while watching it. This
wasn't a repeat, right?

What did you watch?

Graded most of yesterday, so not much:

soaps: DOOL - Fri's ep. It seems like this DNA test thing may happen
without Sloan ever finding out about it! - Wouldn't that be a welcome
story development!! Meanwhile, Sloan tries to convince Dmitri to turn
himself in to save Leo. :/ Dumb Holly continues to work on Johnny,
despite Chanel being on to her.

football: The Chargers beat the awful Patriots in bad weather in about
the most lackluster way possible.
Indi stuns Tennessee in OT!
The 49ers pounded the Eagles (also in bad weather), esp. in the 2nd
half! (I enjoyed this!! :D )
In the evening game, Kansas City choked against Green Bay. :/

Justified: City Primeval (Hulu) - "The Oklahoma Wildman" (ep. #2). We
get a more explicit showdown between Raylan and the new baddie Clement
Mansell (the titular "wildman"), esp. when Mansell involves Raylan's
out-of-control teen daughter.
I am shocked that Adelaide Clemens is in this - an Aussie actress
who's been around at least a decade: I guess she came to the States, and
never went home, unlike most to the rest of them (e.g. Maia Mitchell and
Phoebe Tonkin, who definitely ended up going back home).

The Perfect In-Laws - Naive heiress(?) (Brianna Cohen) marries into a
poisonous rich family, and is unaware that her husband (Tim Shelburne)
is playing her. Then the murders start!!
Anim would say this played out true to form when it's revealed that
the redheaded sister/daughter is completely cuh-cuh-cray-cray!! ;)
This was a poor production (sluggishly directed), but an OK story,
and it manages to deliver a pretty decent over-the-top ending.

The fire stick suggested I watch Leighton Meister as the EXMAS. I made it
not much more than five minutes into it. The promise of an atomic bomb
going off and killing them all would not have been enough. With one of the

Never heard of her or this movie. Wiki has a lengthy page on her, but
nothing on the movie.

I finished off the Miyazaki films in my collection by watching:

Spirited Away (blu-ray) 2001 animated film directed by Hayao Miyazaki.
At the start of the movie a young girl is being driven to a new town by
her parents when they take a wrong turn and wind up in the middle of
nowhere. They get out of the car and walk into what appears to be an
abandoned town, except there's a restaurant with fresh food which the
girl's parents promptly began to eat over the girl's objections. The
girl wanders off a bit where she encounters a young man warning her to
get out before nightfall but when she returns to her parents, she finds
they are turning into pigs. From there the girl finds herself trapped
in a magical land, and forced to work in a bathhouse for spirits run by
the witch who turned her parents into pigs. But she's befriended and
helped by the young man she met earlier and the two work together to
help her escape and free her parents. Excellent movie. This was the
second Miyazaki film I ever saw after "Princess Mononoke" and after two
back-to-back great films, I was a dedicated fan.

Howl's Moving Castle (blu-ray) 2004 animated film directed by Hayao
Miyazaki. The plot on this one is a little hard to describe, but
basically Howl (Christian Bale) is a wizard who works in disguise for
two different kingdoms that happen to be at war with each other which
means he's caught between a rock and a hard place. He lives in a
magical house that walks from place to place, but the doors can exit to
a fixed location at each kingdom. But the story is seen through the
eyes of a young girl (Emily Mortimer) who is placed under a spell by a
witch (Lauren Bacall) which makes her appear to be an old woman (Jean
Simmons) The spell the girl is under also prevents her from telling
anyone she is under a spell. She finds herself working for Howl as a
maid. Wackiness ensues. Billy Crystal also co-stars as Howl's sidekick
who helps run his moving castle. Great movie.

The Secret World of Arrietty (blu-ray) 2010 animated film from Studio
Ghibli. Hayao Miyazaki co-wrote the screenplay but didn't direct. The
plot follows a boy who spends the summer with his great aunt in a house
that has little doll-sized people living beneath it. His mother had
told him tales of the little people secretly living in the house, so he
was happy to learn those tales were true. He wants to help them, but
the little people themselves for the most part don't want anything to do
with regular sized people. Things get complicated when the maid also
discovers the little people and wants to expose them. This was my first
time watching this since seeing it in the theater. It's OK.

The Fall of the House of Usher (Netflix) - I binged through several
episodes.

"Murder in the Rue Morgue" - Episode 3. This one took me by surprise
mainly because there is apparently something supernatural happening that
I didn't pick up on in the first two episodes. I don't count
hallucinations as necessarily being supernatural. And other than Bruce
Greenwood's character seeing things everything so far has been normal
(more or less). I had to look this up in Wiki, but there is a character
"Verna" who has appeared in the first three episodes. This character
is apparently a ghost or something that is haunting the family and
orchestrating the murders. While I did notice she was responsible for
the deaths in episode 2, this episode made it explicitly clear she's not
human. Anyway, an OK episode where one more family member gets
slaughter, and following the Poe theme, this one dies in the "Rue Morgue."

"The Black Cat" - Episode 4 - When Leo's black cat goes missing (perhaps
killed) Leo needs to find a replacement quick. Fortunately the animal
shelter has a black cat that's a dead ringer for his missing cat.
Unfortunately, the woman running the shelter is Verna! This isn't going
to end well.

"The Tell-Tale Heart" - Episode 5 - With so many children dropping like
flies their father (Bruce Greenwood) and aunt (Mary McDonnell) order up
body guards. And Mark Hamill's fixer character starts to put two and
two together from the security footage and notices the same woman is
appearing at all the deaths. Meanwhile, the child who is a heart
surgeon starts to hear the sound of the beating heart of someone she
recently murdered and if she's not careful it's going to drive her
insane or worse...

"Goldbug" - Episode 6 - Mary McDOnnell's character has pretty much come
to terms with the fact there is a supernatural threat coming after the
family. And I think she knows who/what it is. And she knows Bruce
Greenwood also knows who/what it is, but he is in total denial.
Meanwhile another of those vile kid's time has run out and Verna is
going to give them a very public humiliation first during the launch of
"Goldbug" which coincidentally also happens to be the name of an Edgar
Allen Poe story (The Gold-Bug).

I may watch this, if I can find the time.

But, the truth is, X-Mas movies on the streamers end up being a lot
*less* convenient than X-Mas movies on the cable channels - I usually
want these on the TeeVee as "background" noise, and going into an
"on-demand" streamer just for "background noise" has just never rubbed
me the right way... [shrug]

> Never heard of her or this movie.

It's a Freevee(!?!) X-Mas flick. Which explains why you've never heard
of it.

On my end, I keep holding out for the Leighton Meester naked nudity, but
alas I think it is not to be now (and really needed to happen back when
she was "barely legal" (i.e. pre-"Gossip Girl", when she got
ridiculously skinny) anyways...). :p

Speaking of crazy I watched MR RIGHT last night. Starring the lovely
Anna Kendrick as a slightly crazed T-Rex armed woman looking for her
mister right who runs into a guy when out shopping who falls for her
and won't give up until she goes out on a date with him.
