Thanks. I was thinking from the first movie.

After hearing Mel Gibson's thick Aussie accent in the first movie, I was
surprised when I learned much later that he had largely grown up in the
United States and wouldn't have grown up talking like that.

Accents can be gained and lost rather quickly - my (Canadian-born)
mother visited the UK for 6 weeks when she was 14 and came back with a
Brit accent which she had reverted back to her notive accent within 3
months.

My daughter and my niece emigrated to the UK and NZ respectively and
both have their Canadian accents. Each has a boyfriend who is a native
Brit and Kiwi respectively - and still have their original accents -
both were in their early 30s when they emigrated.

Obviously Gibson is rather older than the two of them.
