On Saturday I watched:

Yellow Submarine (blu-ray) 1968 animated jukebox musical that uses
Beatles songs. I haven't watched this in well over a decade. The last
time I was going to watch it, I just wasn't in the mood. But this time
around I enjoyed it. And the blu-ray looks and sounds excellent.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (blu-ray) 1978 jukebox musical
that uses Beatles songs starring Peter Frampton and The Bee Gees. I
know this movie is considered to be really, really bad. But I have to
say every time I watch it, and I've only seen it a few times, but I like
it a little bit more with each viewing. It kind of grows on you. Maybe
like a fungus, but it grows on you. Seriously, just turn your brain all
the way off, and embrace the camp. Plus, this movie has all the top
music groups of the 70s doing Beatles covers, including Aerosmith doing
the definitive version of Come Together. That alone is worth the price
of admission.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgUdkvSGYGU

Across the Universe (4K disc) 2007 jukebox musical, directed by Julie
Taymor, that uses Beatles songs. The movie stars Jim Stugress and Evan
Rachel Wood as two teens falling in love during the backdrop of the
Vietnam war. I absolutely love this movie. I probably saw it 4 times
in the theater when it first came out. While I have always liked the
Beatles music, I was born long after the group broke up. My knowledge
of the Beatles catalog of music primarily consists of the soundtrack to
Yellow Submarine. I liked all of those songs, but how many more songs
could they have possibly had anyway? When I saw this movie, not only
did I like the movie, but it was full of so many new Beatles songs I had
never heard before. And even songs that I had heard before, the covers
in this movie were better than the original versions. So, this movie
took songs that I never particularly cared for like, "I am the Walrus"
and "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and made them songs I actually enjoyed
listening too.
While all the songs in the movie are great some of the standouts include
I want to Hold Your hand
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7WXRNQT9ko
Let It Be
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXkEzSDwSFM
And Happiness is a Warm Gun. This is one of the songs I had never heard
before this movie. Salma Hayek completely steals every scene she's in
during the song.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXWMt4vkQ80

Yesterday (4K disc) 2019 movie directed by Danny Boyle starring Himesh
Patel as a musician who following a solar flare wakes up to discover the
Beatles never existed. After some struggles to get people to take
notice he eventually climbs to fame and fortune by "writing" and
recording their music. There's humor in the modern corporate music
industry forces him to change some of the lyrics for modern times, as he
desperately tries to fight the changes while also not always remembering
the proper lyrics himself. "Hey Dude. That's so much better." The
scenes of him desperately trying to remember the lyrics of songs like
"Eleanor Rigby" are pretty good too.

There is a sci-fi aspect to the movie that's never addressed and that's
what altered history so that the Beatles never existed. I'm not saying
I need an answer, but the sci-fi fan in me would have really appreciated
it if Patel had tracked down a scientist or *anyone* and tried to figure
out what happened and why. It never occurred to him that whatever wiped
out the Beatles could come back and wipe out everything else. Plus, it
wasn't just the Beatles that got winked out of existence. Throughout
the movie he notices other things that also no longer exist like
Coca-Cola or changed in other subtle ways. Had it been me, I would have
been terrified by the scenario, the movie plays it mostly for laughs.

'The Congress' - Netflix disc rip
A mostly animated surreal movie about Robin Wright having a chemically
induced hallucinogenic adventure after selling all rights to her
existence to the movie studio Miramount. Based on a book by Stanisław
Lem. One of those out there art-house flicks somehow it made sense as I
was watching it despite my being unable to really tell you what happened
in detail. If you did a drinking game of all the celebrity and animated
character cameos you'd die of alcohol poisoning half-way thru it.

I've done good in this world. Now I'm tired and just want to be a cranky

Larry Sanders... Sharon Stone at table One.. mmm
NHK Tokyo News Room... earthquake and prane wreck coverage. They talked to a German Buddhist priest from ground zero. Hans was in Tokyo and missed it. Some Axis sleeper agent, Hans may be.
Ice road truckers... Trucks, Hughe Rowland. This explains the uncontrolled summer Canuck fires.
Sunday I peeked at NFL lions v. Vikings. Lion's uniforms looked like potato sack tailored and recycled.

I'm not sure if I've seen this before or not. I'm guessing I have, but
I don't remember it. Added to the watch list.

I had a doctor thing at NU hospital. Live version of "Med". Ambolances every 6 minutes.
