Why don't we have a memorial day for fallen civilians?
Because there's too many that we're trying to forget, to hide from their memories.

Prejudiced callous indifference
warped minds calculated cruelty
come behold the horror of the carnage
It just doesn't break a heart, it smashes it apart
putting it back together- where does one start?
Survivor's guilt, PTSD, therapy, answers they tout
but no miracle cure for every hope snuffed out
But darkness does, it beckons a free fall
as an escape from it all

People die. All of them. In order to have a memorial day for everyday people, there would have to be too many rules, some would complain that their loved ones were left out on a technicality, and the lists of the honored would be in the billions.
