I don't think I'd be considered an alcoholic or drug abuser at the time, back in 1981.

I drank but rarely excessively, and only experimented with drugs occasionally.

I also worked a steady job as a warehouse assistant, which required me to be sober every day.

I drank a few beers after work, which isn't unusual for a working man.

As you know, he's talking about the period *after* his wife disappeared and he gave up trying to find her.

If "Rochester" is giving us "details" that Will has not "remembered," then he either got them from someone who does remember them, or from someone who invented them.

Do you agree that Kathy Dockery disappeared one night in either November or December 1981, while crossing the street from her job to her apartment?

Do you agree that Will Dockery was unaware of where she was, or whether she was still alive until some time after New Year's Day 1982?

If you agree with both of the above, and are just disputing the terminology being used, my answer is that Kathy could have called Will at any time during the month she was in the mental institution, but chose not to.

When you disappear and leave your husband wondering whether you are dead or alive, that counts as having run out on him.

If you are trying to argue that she'd been kidnapped, you've got an awful lot of explaining to do, as there is no evidence to lead on to even suspect that such occurred.

You claim that she disappeared in December. He certainly gave up trying to find her pretty quickly, if he was partying himself senseless by Christmas..
