Sleepless in Shadowville

I must, before the final sunset,
correct every detail of my being,
the never-ending assualt on truth
that has occupied my days, nights, seconds
for decades.

How can they be so wrong, dismissing
what I present; the comics, poetry, music,
my stand at the mic bellowing
artistry to a final applause.

Yes, I say hello to those that sleep,
yes I say 'good to see you' to those I can't see,
yes, my doctor tells me i'm in good shape
no matter the disfigured photo's my enemies
display.

Yes, my wife was kidnapped, yes my friend
hit my brother in the head with a pipe and explained
over and over, he was blind drunk and forgiven.

Yes, I touched the holes that were offered

How can I possibly right all the wrongs pointed my way?

I brew black coffee, constantly and prepare to defend
no matter time of day.

This guy Senetto thinks he's all that, ego driven, king of the hill.

I must prove him and others wrong, before the long goodbye.
