My hope is that those who do recognize the Barrett connection (I think the title's a dead giveaway) will get more from the poem, but at the same time those who know nothing about it can just read it at as a poem about a sunrise."

He tried to pass off the poem as his own work (several times), and that is plagiarism."

Noted. Lying Michael doesn't want to "control" the members of aapc; he just wants to make them "adhere" to some "guidelines" he wrote up for them.
> The failure of AAPC has been obvious for the past two decades (ever since Will Donkey first showed up).

Michael Monkey notes the decline in the group's quality since he joined (which was less than *one* decade ago), but of course blames it on his nemesis, Will Dockery. Blaming it on his own attempts to control what's posted here would mean taking responsibility, so of course he can't conceive of it.
> Trolls obviously want to keep AAPC a battlefield.
>
> I would like to have AAPC become a place where poets and poetry lovers can post and discuss poetry and poetic theory.
And MIchael Monkey's solution to keep aapc from becoming a "battlefield" is to wage "war" (his word) against everyone who posts what he doesn't like.

> An unmoderated Usenet poetry discussion group has unlimited potential -- provided that everyone follows the guidelines. I just want to see it functioning at its fullest potential.

Once again: all Michael Monkey wants is for "everyone" here to follow the "guidelines" that he made up for them. But he says he's not really a "control freak."
> As to the charge of "egotism," I prefer to think of myself as an "egoist." As an Ayn Rand disciple, you will not require any further explanation.

Actually, only Michael Monkey has mentioned "egotism" or "egoism". But it's worth looking at what he's saying here. Let's start with the relevant definitions:
"Egoism 1b: a doctrine that individual self-interest is the valid end of all actions
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/egoism
"Egotism 2: an exaggerated sense of self-importance : CONCEIT
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/egotism

Michael Monkey's "guidelines" fiasco alone was enough to show his "exaggerated sense of self-importance" -- other examples are available if necessary. It is also no wonder that he'd "prefer to think of [him]self as an 'egoist'" instead.

As Zod says, Michael Pendragon is just a control freak on an ego trip.

And so it goes.

The Guidelines were written with input from all of the AAPC members at that time -- George "The Plagiarist" Dance included.

Do you understand that "two decades" denotes 20 years? That's 10 years before I joined AAPC.

When I first came to AAPC, it was already a ghost town. It consisted of you, your Donkey, Corey, and PJR -- with occasional visits from Horatio, Gwyneth, and PJR's friends from alt.kooks (Cujo, Aratzio, and a couple of others).

The name of the group is alt.arts.poetry.comments. It was created as a forum for the discussion of poetry.

There are other poetry groups like RAP and AAP where you can spam post poetry to your heart's content. When you come to a *poetry discussion* group, you should be prepared to discuss poetry.

Once again, the Guidelines were written up with input from all of the members at the time (yourself included). Anyone who wanted to change any of the Guidelines, including those I'd originally come up with, was given ample opportunity to do so.

Please turn in your Ayn Rand fan club badge.

My hope is that those who do recognize the Barrett connection (I think the title's a dead giveaway) will get more from the poem, but at the same time those who know nothing about it can just read it at as a poem about a sunrise."

No, Michael Monkey. You wrote the Guidelines yourself, in Jan. 21, and started trolling about them a month later; see

Perfectly, Lying Michael. You're pontficating about things that happened when you weren't even here; Goebbelsing about things you know nothing of. And now, with your help, everyone should be able to understand that.

Membership was probably low; we were at the tail of a five-year flame war. But that's not to support your account; I'm sure we had more than three people writing poetry in those days.

I'm sorry, Lying Michael, but I've found it's pointless to try to discuss poetry with you; trying to talk to you about anything is a waste of time. That isn't going to change no matter how many "Guidelines" you make up.

No, Lying Michael. You had a bit of "input" from two of the Bandar-Log (NastyGoon and the Asstroll), but you essentially wrote your Guidelines yourself. They're Bandar-Log Guidelines, and even the Bandar-Log doesn't "comply" with them.

> Anyone who wanted to change any of the Guidelines, including those I'd originally come up with, was given ample opportunity to do so.

No one outside the Bandar-Log cares about your Guidelines, and no one cares enough to "comply" with them. Don't take your frustration with that out on me.

Yep... a control freak on an ego trip...

His poetry group GLs are BOGUS...!

By Willy about his Dunce:

When my love swears that she is made of truth
I do believe her, though I know she lies,
That she might think me some untutored youth,
Unlearnèd in the world's false subtleties.
Thus vainly thinking that she thinks me young,
Although she knows my days are past the best,
Simply I credit her false-speaking tongue;
On both sides thus is simple truth suppressed.
But wherefore says she not she is unjust?
And wherefore say not I that I am old?
O, love's best habit is in seeming trust,
And age in love, loves not to have years told.
Therefore I lie with her, and she with me,
And in our faults by lies we flattered be.
--Sonnet 138 ~~William Shakespeare
