people leaving. Mostly Jorma, Jack Casady, Marty Balin and Spencer
Dryden. While there were a few "reunion tours", they were pretty much
dead in the water after 1970.

Weirdly enough, they put out a record of all new material in 1989. Their
last great album was in 1969 with a few crappy Airplane records after
that. Starship is a matter of taste.

Hot Tuna (Jorma and Jack Cassady) is a spinoff from JA and they continue
to perform to this very day in both acoustic and electric versions of

People come and go but I wouldn't say they are phases and certainly not man as Dockery claims. I true Dockery failure fashion he had to double down on his stupid claim without anything backing it. As the Conley Brother said, JA ceased to exist and new bands formed like Jefferson Starship and Hot Tuna which kept the soul of Jefferson Airplane if not the name. The irony is Jorma has been credited with coming up with the Jefferson Airplane name. I've seen HT a number of times and Jorma solo also, even shared a couple bowls of chili with him at a place called The Crystal Palace, I believe it was. Elegant name but it was a large country bar in a mall, Garden State Plaza. I heard he was playing there but there was no advertising at all for it and I even called the bar day of they knew nothing of it. I trusted my source though and was there around 5 in the evening. I knew the bartender somewhat and he confirmed the show just as Jorma walked in with some gear and propped the door open. I asked if he needed help but he said he only had one more trip, motioning to his car parked by the curb. He said rather than asked "If you don't mind, you could watch my stuff while I park the car".. That was kind of weird to me as he turned it around and parked maybe 30 feet away then carried the rest in and set up, sound checked while a friend and I drank beer in the nearly empty venue as showtime was still a few hours away.

Their last electric tour ever is coming up. I'm not planning to miss
that.

I mostly stick to small venues these days, between the parking hassles
and the "convenience" charges, I'm pretty much checked out of the larger
shows.
