We do not know why George Dance decided that posting and blogging the song version of George Wither’s poem rather than the original poem would be suitable for a poetry group. However:

George Dance’s version again changes spellings of words in the poem.. Whether he did it or previous publishers did, the spelling of the words is not what George Wither wrote. We have to assume that Wither used 17th century spelling rather than 21st century spelling.

It is insulting to a poetry group to modernize a historic poem. We would much rather see the original, not a sanitized and spelling-corrected version.. Below is the poem as it appears in the “Harpers” magazine and in “Old Songs with Drawings.”

She was, indeed, a rare one,
Another Sheba queen;{

It's becoming clear that George uses the first version of a poem that turns up in a google search. Perhaps he thinks that if it's "published" (on the internet), it must be correct? Or maybe he finds researching it a bother and just wants to get back to his bong.

Bong! Bong! Yes, George Dance doesn't seem to invest much into the poems he uses--he doesn't even seem to read them, other than to isolate the single word in the poem that goes with the month. He seems to resent us for our research--which indicates to us that he is not capable of/doesn't know how to research. It is a big gap in the knowledge of a Mensa Man.

George Dance seems to be an inaccurate typist also--who doesn't proofread after typing. He should invest in software which would enable him to copy and paste directly from pdf documents, instead of brutally retyping the text..
