I didn't see 'The Diaries of Anais Nin'-- does Ash have one up on you? :P

You would appreciate some of her sentiments:
“I am an excitable person who only understands life lyrically, musically, in whom feelings are much stronger as reason. I am so thirsty for the marvelous that only the marvelous has power over me. Anything I can not transform into something marvelous, I let go. Reality doesn’t impress me. I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy, and when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, one way or another. No more walls.”

Correction: that should be "The Diary of Anais Nin" which had like seven volumes LoL

You've got me on that one.

I went straight from high school to the Navy, and entered college at the ripe old age of twenty-four. I spent my twenty-third year recovering from an accident, unable to walk and with plenty of free time on my hands. So I began preparing myself for college by reading the classics: starting with Ancient Greek literature and moving up through the Renaissance. I've continued focusing on the classics throughout my adult life. The downside of which is that my familiarity with 20th and 21st century literature is much more spotty.

You're right about the Anaïs Nin quote -- it sounds a lot like something I would have written. I'll bump her up to the top of my reading list.

Ellison's own words are enough on the matter:
"iT IS UNCONSCIONABLE FOR A MAN TO GRAB A WOMAN'S BREAST WITHOUT HER EXPLICIT PERMISSION. To do otherwise is to go 'way over the line in terms of invasion of someone's personal space. It is crude behavior at best, and actionable behavior at worst… For me to grab Connie's breast is in excusable, indefensible, gauche, and properly offensive to any observers or those who heard of it later.” "I am 100% guilty as charged, and NO ONE should attempt to cobble up mitigating excuses for my behavior."

## is the sorry ass sod another Trump?

"... while author Rachel Manija Brown posted about how she’d fended off Ellison’s wandering hands earlier that day. "I was a big fan of his writing when I was a misunderstood teenager," Brown added in a later comment, "but he does not seem to have matured at all since he was a misunderstood teenager—and most teenagers have a much better sense that other people should be treated with respect." "

"By Tuesday afternoon, Ellison appeared to realize he’d screwed up, though several observers interpreted the string of apologetic remarks posted to his official website as self-serving. "I’ve called Connie. Haven’t heard back from her yet. Maybe I never will,” he says.. “What now, folks? It’s not as if I haven’t been a politically incorrect creature in the past." "

## This subject is a pet peeve of mine which I have written about here before and Ellison is a perfect example of-- https://groups.google.com/g/alt.arts.poetry.comments/c/5cupmSKShAk/m/JFnuL5gcAQAJ
I agree with this writer about the issue:

" For younger writers like Alan Deniro, that just might not be good enough. "How must a woman just entering the field feel about this? Younger female readers?" Deniro asks. "What could they possibly think about this? Could they possiblly think anything good about SF/F? As a field? A community?" His publisher, Gavin Grant, adds that people like Ellison are "taking all the fun out of being in the genre and not inspiring anyone with anything but horror and the urge to vomit and throw out their books." "

I like the various reactions to the incident:
"Look, unwanted touching is not okay. Period. I don't care who's doing it, whether you're a SFWA Grand Master or President of the United States."

Understood, I'm more of a fan of 19th & early 20th* century writing-- one of my favorite modern writers, Ligotti, writes in the old style. Anon introduced me to Nin, along with Camus, Storm Constantin, Poppy Z Brite, Cohen's, Rollins', Nick Cave's writing.

Anon's reaction to my latest piece was-- it sounds like something from old pulp fiction.

Also, you know after the first 100 books, it's showing off :P

LOL! So it is.

Of course, I'm mostly doing it as a means of showing *up* (the Donkey).

Hell yeah, no poet's home is complete without a library...
Unfortunately, I had to part with mine -- someone we know of now has several curiosity pieces-- revolutionary handbooks that will remain unnamed, a manual for the modern mercenary and one for criminal interrogation and confession-- they'll all raise eyebrows and nervous foot shifting when on the coffee table L07 :>
