An ironic winner, since Mark has made strong statements in
the recent past implying that nominations should be obscure.

For me, *at least*, the top 2 Obscure tracks here are:

1. Where Is My Honey? - Mickey and Sylvia (Jim)

this remark by our 1953 Dennis, is, imo, insensitive blowhard nonsense
- or, should I say, subject to a second opinion:

"Jangly guitar solo sended out a life line but this thing sinks like a
rock"

2. I Don’t Go For That - Jimmy Reed

"I Got It" is pretty fucking obscure, although it would not have been eligible under the original rules here since it was in Roger's 1960 battle.

In a recent post I said:

if the record or *its sound* is clearly not Obscure...

I never said that. In fact, in my suggestion that we occasionally wander from
our usual decade limits I emphasized we should stick with the idea of
little-known recordings (and your response to that was "In the Mood"), My
problem with the original rule was simply that I was running out of records
worth nominating. Roger's contests were filled with interesting things I would
call obscurities, but were ruled off limits by the original rules you set.
Opening up the losers in Roger's battles certainly has increased my interest a
lot.
