Soon the ants will eat your eyes
Birds and snakes will feast on thighs
Dogs and cats will chew your tongue
A sickened skunk will puke your lung
Writhing maggots eat your face
You will be gone: without a trace

Here is the Final Shitkicker Jeopardy answer!

A. The subject matter of this type of poetry concerns Columbus pissbums
and the diets of wildlife.

Q. "WHAT IS PROPHETIC POETRY?"

Correct! NancyGene, you are our new champion!

Oooh, Ash gets to be childish... just been waiting to post this, this being October.

"And the worms crawl out, the worms crawl in
The worms that crawl in are lean and thin
The ones that crawl out are fat and stout
Your eyes fall in and your hair falls out
Your brain comes tumbling down your snout
You might also like

Taylor Swift
And the worms crawl in, the worms crawl out
They crawl all over your dirty snout
Your chest caves in and your eyes pop out
And your brain turns to sauerkraut

They invite their friends, and their friends too
They all come down to chew on you
And this is what it is to die
I hope you had a nice goodbye"

read the comments section, it's worth it

from The Monk by Matthew Lewis
"O God! what a sight met Fair Imogine’s eyes!
What words can express her dismay and surprise,
When a skeleton’s head was exposed!
All present then uttered a terrified shout,
All turned with disgust from the scene;
The worms they crept in, and the worms they crept out,
And sported his eyes and his temples about,"

We have it on good authority that Ash sings "The Hearse Song" to his ladies on first dates. Is there a second date?

Yes, a second and a third, 'cause there's many versions of the song!
"Your brain turns into maggot pie
Your liver starts to liquify
And for the living, all is well
As you sink further into hell
And the flames rise up to drag you down
Into the fire, where you will drown
Your skin melts off as you descend
And Satan tears you limb from limb
Your suffering will never end"
--'The Hearse Song" by Rusty Cage
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xclh_676KwE

And of course my fav worm reference:
"But see, amid the mimic rout,
A crawling shape intrude!
A blood-red thing that writhes from out
The scenic solitude!
It writhes!—it writhes!—with mortal pangs
The mimes become its food,
And seraphs sob at vermin fangs
In human gore imbued."

The Conqueror Worm seems to be a fav of some to make into song:
humorous, not necessarily metal: Aurelio Voltaire - The Conqueror Worm
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apce5DngfZk
The Conqueror Worm · Sopor Aeternus & The Ensemble Of Shadows · Anna-Varney Cantodea
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jovsgfTaxh0

I found several metal bands making the poem into a song (to add to my reference and playlist)

Damned, also found a band from Portugal (the Azores) named A Dream of Poe
Albums:
Delirium Tremens Demo 2006
For a Glance of the Lost Lenore Live album 2008
Sorrow for the Lost Lenore EP 2009
Lady of Shalott EP 2010
The Mirror of Deliverance Full-length 2011
An Infinity Emerged Full-length 2015
The Deliverance Live album 2016
A Waltz for Apophenia Full-length 2016
The Wraith Uncrowned Full-length 2019
The Lament of Phaethon Single 2023

The Russian band Nimphaion made an album Quoth the Raven
(it's harsh- Melodic Death Metal/Symphonic Black Metal- so I wouldn't suggest listening to it)
1. Welcome to the House of Usher
2. The Conqueror Worm
3. Lenore
4. Valley of Unrest
5. Raven
6. The Sleeper
7. Spirits of the Dead
8. Annabel Lee
9. A Dream Within a Dream

Album notes:
In the memory of E.A. Poe.

Covered by the veil of the web and the true Gothic atmosphere of the 19th century, the music of the band is written here entirely on the original verses of the great American poet Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849), a vivid representative of decadent romanticism in literature. The atmosphere of darkness, despair, lost love and the beauty of desolation is perfectly transferred to "Quoth the Raven", which truly turned out to be a real requiem for the poet.. The band approached to reproduction of deeply spiritual Poe's ideas with a maximum of composer and vocal scrupulousness, so this musical piece should come to the taste of connoisseurs of beautiful melodic black metal and lovers of dark poetry.
