Exsanguination
a poem by NancyGene (2020)

It’s beautiful when people bleed out,
Pulsing pools of red, until I end
The art strokes with a deeper cut.

Aortas are favored for a quick
Flow, but I nick smaller veins
As torture and a slower realization
Of what it is that's coming to them.

Cut, slice, stab, squeeze, the same
As always on a night when I am free
From society’s polite bon jours,
And I can find those who are
Seeking thrills of the body while I
Relish the pleasure of painting death.

The red pools are shining, staining the
Street now; how lovely it is to be the
Host for the crimson sacrifices this night,
A gallery owner displaying bold new art.

Is this meant to be a homage to Hamas?

George Dance, were you allowed to go out treat or treating on Halloween? No, we didn't think so.

Of course. I've written about that in one of my poems.
Now, are you going to answer my question?

No, we didn't think so.

I'm sure you didn't think so. Now, are you going to answer my question?

No, it's a homage to George Sulzbach.

By the pricking of my thumbs
I've no teeth left in my gums!
Tis the fate of Bharma Dums
Marching to our dime store drums.
"Camping" 'neath a piece of tarp
Feasting on some toxic carp,
People say I'm none too sharp
Dirty Mike strums on his harp
As I drain my Ripple dry.
Folks say that I'm going to die
That my judgement hour is nigh...
Well to them I holler "Fie!"
Stinky George is here to stay.
Though they wish I'd go away
I've a million things to say
Like "Ha ha ha," "Callooh! Callay!”
People say that I'm a nut
That my life is in a rut,
That I play Dirty Mike's slut,
That a pimple on Will's butt
Has ten times more worth than me.
But I say I'm living free
(So what if I stink of pee),
Bending over for a fee
Still beats working nine to five.
Know that we outdoorsmen thrive
Far away from the "beehive"
We may stink, but we're alive!
Though we've one foot in the grave...
So kneel down and call me "Zod"
Kneel and praise my Donkey God,
Or a grab a metal rod
And bash your skull like Brother Dave.
Blue, blue, blue, I'm Navy blue
I blew Will, and Barfy, Dirty too
And for a quarter, I'll blow you
Cause that's all Bharma Dums can do.
Just give me dumpsters full of chow
Will's book, a slug of wine, and thou
Beside me barfing underneath a bough
And homeless camp is paradise enow!

Thought-provoking and a cautionary tale. Well done!
