So I'm watching Picard episode 4 or 5, they have time traveled to 2024 and one of Picard's ancestors is in NASA preparing for a trip to Europa, really Europa in 2024! Then they mention she finds an organism on IO, thought it was Europa.
Does nobody connected to this show understand science fiction? Does nobody connected with this show understand current events?

Has anybody connected to any Star Trek show *ever* understood
*science*, much less science *fiction*? Hollywood is a fantasy land,
with no connection to the real world.

If you're going all that way, why would you only visit one location?
Europa and Io *are* both moons of Jupiter, so it's not like they're on
oppostie ends of the solar system.

NASA is launching a "Europa Clipper" spacecraft to go to Europa in
October 2024, but it of course won't be a manned mission. I haven't
seen this Picard episode, but perhaps you were getting confused about
her actually physically going there.

Star Dreck Pick-a-card started out silly; I didn’t get all the way through
the first episode of the first season. I am not at all surprised that it’s
getting worse.

I'm not confused, it's definitely a manned mission, the astronaut Picard's great-niece, is being put into quarantine to be launched the next day, in 2024. And as to visiting IO is NASA really going to plan 2 landings? And what about all the radiation?

I don't know any more about it than the launch, but the comment about
visiting two locations at the same time wasn't based on NASA's real
mission, but any fictional manned one - if you're sending someone all
that way, it would make sense to visit at least some of the others
Jupiter moons, as well as perhaps other places on the way there / back
if they're easy to get to on the trajectory.

Even some of NASA's unmanned missions do multiple tasks (e.g. sending a
lander down while the main craft does some orbital photography).

Any decent encyclopedia published since the time of Gallileo will say
the same thing. But I'm guessing he's reacting to the fact that it is
Europa that some scientists believe may harbour life in its oceans.

That's pretty much standard operating procedure for Hollyweird.

The makers of the new "Halo" TV series proudly stated they never looked
at or dicussed the games.

Jonathan Frakes was put in charge of the "Thunderbirds" movie, but knew
absolutely nothing about the original show, then watched a couple of
episodes and thought he knew it all (and the movie proves he still knew
nothing).

The first Smurfs cinema movie stupidly moved the characters to New York.

The list of blunders is near endless. :-(

I think he had to be pretty familiar with TOS to have so consistently

Abrams isn't familiar with anything. He just makes a load of crap up as
he goes along, then jumps ship leaving everyone else to attempt to
clean up his disasterous mess. :-(

Apparently there are only three seasons to "Picard" and they're going
to drag in other TNG characters into the final season.

The new trailer for "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" appears to show a
lounge in Captain Pike's Enterprise (about the 28sec mark).
