Penny's Poetry Blog's featured poem for June:
Spring Morning, by A.A. Milne
[...]
If you were a bird, and lived on high,
You'd lean on the wind when the wind came by,
You'd say to the wind when it took you away:
"That's where I wanted to go today!"
[...]

Excellent choice, George.

Milne was a favorite of mine in my childhood.

And, of course, Eeyore, obviously:

I can confirm that, after checking publication dates on Penny's Poetry Pages:
https://pennyspoetry.fandom.com/wiki/A.A._Milne?so=search#Stories

Milne's first book of Pooh stories, /Winnie-the-Pooh/, was published in 1926. The U.S. copyright term for books published back then is 95 years, meaning those stories entered the public domain on January 1, 2022.

His second book, /The House at Pooh Corner/, was published in 1928. That boook entered the public domain on January 1, 2024.

Because Milne died in 1956, all his work has been in the public domain in Canada since 2007.

I was in a used book store downtown of recent days and saw an A.A. Milne book of poetry... perhaps there's more poetry of use on the PPB blog...?

Interesting back story, thanks, George.

Yes, there is, but I haven't looked through it. He published 2 books of children's verse (/When We Were Very Young/ and /Now We Are Six/), a collection of light verse he'd had published in /Punch/, and a book of war poetry in 1940. All but the last are now in the public domain in the U.S.

When time permits I'll look through the poetry.
