There's a Bruce Evry memorial event in Annapolis, Maryland on Sunday
the 23rd. He founded and ran Fantek (1981-????), Evecon (1983-2004),
and Castlecon (1988-2003). He died last August at age 73.

Bruce and Cheryl were sort of controversial characters back in the eighies
and nineties because to many it seemed they were making a living off of
volunteer-run conventions. Times have changed and these days commercially
run conventions being supported by fans are no longer an unusual thing.
Whatever anyone could say, he was an innovator.
