Henry Kissinger turns 100 today. (Last I heard, he still hasn't
managed to shed his German accent, despite having lived in the US for
85 years.) Who, if not him, is the most famous living person who 100
or older?

Offhand I can't think of anyone. But finding the next
nth-most-famous centenarian would be a simple process, though
tedious. Just go backward in time by using a newspaper database.
Note the most famous people in the news and check to see if they
are still living and older than 100.

Less tedious but more subjective: Look at Wikipedia's list of living
centenarians for names you recognize. Candidates include Philippe de
Gaulle (son of Charles de Gaulle), Archduchess Yolande, and Norman Lear.

Thanks. I hadn't known Wikipedia had such a list. I knew it had a
list of the 50 oldest confirmed living people, all of whom are 112 or
older. (The oldest is 116. The oldest person ever was 122.) But as
far as I can tell none of those 50 are famous (not counting fame for
their longevity itself).

Norman Lear was the person I had in mind. But, as you say, it's
subjective.

ObFandom: Bob Madle died at age 102 last year. He was the last
true member of First Fandom.

And it's good to be reminded that Wikipedia has a list associated
with every conceivable topic. I hadn't thought to check.

Al Jaffee, well-known for his illustrations and concepts for Mad
Magazine, died this year at 102. He had retired at age 99.
