Those differences were very true when I was a kid of a boy back in the 50's and 60's but later on slowly but surely, for better or for worse, there has been a homogenization of the cultures.
Huge influx of northerners and the effects of mass media have taken a little sugar out of the tea and put it in the cornbread,.

Ahhh those were the good old desparately disperate days, baby!!

Yes, there are pockets of places outside the south where college football is huge, but none really in the Northeast, where things actually matter.

I guess since the '40s when Army was a major force. But they didn't
put the football HOF in Canton, Ohio by accident.

That's the PRO FOOTBALL Hall of Fame. Pro football is HUGE in the Northeast.. The College Football HOF is in Atlanta.

Of course, almost all of them did, but unlike college basketball, college football was just never all that popular in the Northeast. Maybe because we've never had one of the real strong teams up here.

I was joking, of course. The thing about Canton is that they had the
first two pro football teams: the Massilon Tigers in 1903 and the
Canton Bulldogs in 1904. They played in the Ohio League which became
the American Professional Football Association and then became the
NFL. Canton was purchased by the owner of the Cleveland Indians and
became the Cleveland Browns. The Portsmoutn Spartans (Ohio) later
became the Detroit Lions.

I am running a league with an NBA simulation game. The premise of the league is to pick seasons from NBA players who played at the same college or tandem of two colleges.

Ong guy put in a team combining The Vols and Memphis. So far they are 8-10.

The players are based on individual NBA or ABA seasons. The owner of the team can pick any season for any player that played at Ohio State. I don't think Herb had a season good enough to knock out any of the big men on this team.
