Something interesting I just saw. Richard Berry sang lead on the Robins' "Riot In Cell Block #9."

That record, along with "Framed" by the Robins and "The Big Break" were all from 1954. I can't find out the chronological order.

Here's the order

Riot
Framed / The Big Break

"Riot" broke out big in late June and July, and the other 2 both in like October. "The Big Break" was reviewed on Oct 16, 2 weeks before that the flip side of "Framed" (Loop De Loop Mambo) was listed as a breakout hit in Los Angeles. I don't see a review of "Framed" and "Loop De Loop Mambo" so no telling for sure which one was released first, but they were both out at the same time.

5. Blues Get Off My Shoulder - Dee Clark - 21

Never would have thought that Big Colegrove would win this group. Diane's Woodrow takes second. Bill's Big Break is third. My Cubs go into the 4th place pool, hopefully safe with 29 points. Mark's Dee Clark was way back in 5th place and will be leaving us.

It's bluesier, but Clark is a much better singer. Of course, I should have
known that pretty doesn't make it in these contests.

Dee Clark's pretty, ornate, and surpassing voice is the ONLY element if note in this prodction and the sole force that lifted it to third place on my ballot!!
He could sing about a botched colonoscopy and make it pleasing, baby!!
