No, he just said that "All that matters is what's coming out of the speaker. It's not process that matters, it's results."

So, it doesn't matter if your notes are all sloppy and unorganized, what matters is the results that go out over the air.

That would make sense if a radio announcer said it, but Gary Cohen's on
TV, where the visuals are just as important if not more so.
In fact, you personally often watch the game with the sound off!
So, while it's cool that a semi-famous person used your signature
phrase, I don't think he really means the same thing you mean by it.

The on air talent on televised baseball is largely crap these days !
They think they have to run that mouth constantly to the extent that the leisurely experience of watching a ball game is near- nigh impossible!!
Also, female play-by-play baseball or football announcers are totally unsuited for the job.
They think they either have to vocal fry or ennunciate nasally to affect a more manly inflection to the narration.
The effect is a phlegmatic Bucky Beaver and should be done away with on an industry- wide basis, baby!!

He's talking about his job as an announcer. He has nothing to do with the visuals, they are handled by the director, who should be using the same motto except with video rather than audio. In the directors case "ALL THAT MATTERS IS WHAT GOES OUT ON THE SCREEN."
