i like crunchy pears too, but i'm not all that fond of crunchy
peaches, nectarines or apricots.

since i may react to uncooked peaches, etc. i normally only eat
them from the can. pears i can eat about any way. as a kid i
reacted to almost any fresh fruit and a lot of vegetables but
years of allergy shots helped moderate it enough that i could eat
something and not break out, i just have to be careful to not
overdo it. like if i eat a whole grapefruit i may break out,
but half of one won't bother me. funny too that lemon or lime
anything doesn't bother me but orange scented cleaning stuff can
shut me down.

hmm, dinner last night was peanut butter pie. no citrus or
fruits in that, but it was good for a change. lunch was a nice
juicy burger fried in the cast iron skillet to perfection. not
overdone.

It's tricky to pick fruit. You don't want to get them too ripe because
they may spoil before you eat them, or they may not have ripened enough
by the time you eat them. I tend to get small amounts at a time. I
rarely buy more than 3-4 bananas at a time. Grapes tend to keep well
enough that I can buy a big bunch and have them last a week. With pears
we buy 3-4 and check them daily and try to eat them when they have
reached their peak.

We keep pears and most of our fruit in a bowl on the kitchen table.
Check for ripeness by pressing gently near the stem. It should give. If
you have several of them and one is softer than the other, eat the
softest one because it will soon be over ripe. You can sped up ripening
by putting them in a bag or near other ripe fruit.

We got hit last night. Tomatoes made it and everything we had space
for is inside. I can't move all the containers in though. There's
about 23 (most 3ft long) now.

Grin, for lunch I did mustard greens and fishball soup again with
tumeric rice added to the soup. Very like yesterday's lunch. Dinner
tonight is Spinach Calizones and spiced french fries, sidded with
honeydew melon.

firm and once some 'give', they are ready.

unusually, no bunnies at the bottom, instead a second layer at the
middle! Small brown ones with yellow beaks at to, blue birds in middle

Yes. Blue birds and cardinals are fairly common here. Last year we
had cardinals in the holly. This year it's 2 separate bird bird nests.
Bluebirds and something small, brown and with yellow bills.
