Jeez, how could they leave out Adric? He gets taken from a
different universe, hangs out with the Doctor for quite a while,
has adventures along with other companions and then gets splatted
in the K�T boundary event (the K�Pg boundary event for younger
viewers).

Sarah Jane Smith even chides the Doctor when he shows up decades
later in her life for having just dumped her without even saying
goodbye. Not as sad as Adric though.
