In that order. I see everyone putting the Mellow Keys record first or
second but to me it's just boring, nothing unique or interesting about it.

MY RANKINGS

1. Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On - Carl Perkins - 37
2. Listen Baby - Mellow Keys - 33
3. Lady With The Hat Box - Clarence Henry - 28 (6-4)

5. My God Is Real - The Prisonaires - 28
4. Sweet Sixteen - Colts - 24

Some surprising results here if you ask me. Steve's Perkins wins the group with a good, but not outstanding remake. My Mellow Keys takes second. Mark's Frogman wins the tie breaker over Diane's extremely polarizing Prisonaires Gospel gem. If a record that good can't get through the prelims then nominating Gospel records is a lost cause here as it fell a point short of the 2 leaders in the 4th place pool and is done. Bill's pop sounding Colts record was last.

I'm not so sure, Bruce.
Leaving aside the lyrics (whatever they are) I suspect it's this
particular Prisonaires record that some feel is draggy and boring.
I can imagine some other Prisonaires Gospel sides being more
successful, such as "Softly And Tenderly":

And, of course, The Prisonaires is not the only group releasing

Oh, and many (not all) slow tempo non-Gospel group harmony records
would suffer the same fate as "My God Is Real".

A couple of months ago Rick tried an experiment and nominated five
gospel records. They all failed. I think Bruce is right.

I agree that it's very unlikely that any Gospel record will win a
tournament, unlikely even to reach the Final Eight? But not
everyone can, or wants to, nominate only records that they
think can win; sometimes the main aim is to simply expose/promote
an obscure record that is personally liked, hoping it will survive the
first one or two rounds.
