It's now questionable whether Hank wrote the song or not. Williams' biographer Colin Escott speculates that it is likely Moon Mullican wrote at least some of the song and Hank's music publisher Fred Rose paid him surreptitiously so that he wouldn't have to split the publishing with Moon's label King Records. There's also some talk about the words actually being written by 21-year-old Kentuckian Paul Gilley, as well as several other of Hank's classics, such as "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry."

For me the Hank and the Blue Ridge Rangers are both tens, the Fats Domino a 9, and the Jerry Lee and the Brenda Lee
are both sevens. Also, the Hank Williams demo is a 10.

Goodness me, one of the most boring famous songs ever recorded.

Just for starters, most well-known records by Bill Haley and Chuck
Berry are far more entertaining.

If "Jambalaya (On The Bayou)" resonates for many folk - why?
