Personally, I don't find the chamber orchestra version (which Prokofiev orchestrated reluctantly) as characterful as the sextet version.

There is a version with Melos Ensemble in their ICON box (de Peyer is playing clarinet).

I have Michel Béroff and Michel Portal recorded with the Parrenin
Quartet in 1974 on EMI.

It came with the Béroff/Gewandhaus/Masur piano concertos.

You have to buy the Masur/Beroff concertos to get the Overture. Perhaps I am not being fair. As far as complete sete go, I suppose it is competitive. But with so many superior (IMO) individual recordings of the concertos available, I'd rather not have to buy the Beroff concertos to get the Overture. It's not really a big deal, and perhaps I under-rate Beroff. And I know I can buy it cheap used and I can just stream the Overture.

You have a point. Beroff's set is quite good, but not a must-have if you aren't a completist.

I quite like the concerto set though; the Gewandhaus in 1974 still had
