I have no idea why my thread should be resurrected by gggg after almost a
decade.

Reviewing what I
wrote then, I'd move Reiner's Prokofiev: Alexander Nevsky up for its
combination of excitement and
gravitas that, for me, raises the cantata above the "exciting but shallow"
ranking that I might
have used then.

I also wish that RCA had recorded Reiner's entire Salome.

I can't believe that it came out 8 years ago, as I am just now starting to work my way through it. Going is slow, as a tend to have so little time for listening, but I'll try to put up some impressions.
