Just a very small something I noticed.

Disc 99 includes the mono recording of the Barber Adagio. The big
coffee-table book lists the recording date as April 14, 1957, and
the venue as the Academy of Music. The playing time is 8'17".

Then there's the stereo recording for Columbia, which has been
reissued many times. The playing time is variously listed as
7'42" and 7'43". My copy, on Sony UK, lists the recording date
as April 14, 1957 and the venue as the Broadwood Hotel.

The book offers this further note: "For Track 6 of mono LP
ML 5187 [the Barber Adagio] different takes were used than
for stereo LP MS 6224."

Yes, but did the Orchestra record in two different halls on
the same day? I would tend to doubt it. Since Columbia was
recording the Orchestra in stereo in the Broadwood Hotel by
that time, the logical answer would be an editorial slip-up
in the book.

That slip-up would apparently also apply to the other two
items listed on Disc 99 that were recorded that day, the
Vaughan Williams Greensleeves Fantasia and the Borodin
Notturno, both of which were subsequently released in stereo.

Unless, of course, someone here has more accurate info.

The Kaplan Discography says Broadwood Hotel for the RVW, Barber, & Borodin. Different takes used for the stereo of the Barber.
