So he's still active. I heard rumours a few years ago that he had given up practising. Losing from Shen was quite a blow for him.

On Spotify there are albums from 2015 (Chopin Preludes and Schubert
violin sonatas) and 2019 (Rachmaninov) and 2017 (Mozart and Beethoven
violin sonatas with Ji Young Lim; take care anybody searching for him:
for some reason the album is listed on Spotify only under her name).

In 2003 - or did I already reply to this post? - Lim won the 3rd prize (after Eckardstein and Shen) in the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels. Unable to understand why Shen was supposed to be the better pianist, he refused the prize and demanded that everything to do with his participation be deleted. And so it happened. The affair haunted him for years, I heard in an interview with him.

Sounds idiotic. Anyone who participates in a
competition must be prepared to not be the
top winner, or win anything at all.

Emotions are not idiotic. Competitors know they will be judged by others, but it is all to easy to convince yourself that the judging wasn't fair. If you are not susceptible to this sort of thing, good for you.
