I'm reminded of the story of Vaughan-Williams during a visit to one of
the US music schools. A composition student played his latest piece for
V-W at the end of which V-W said:

The once and (we hope) future poster Steve /Bozo had a good way of addressing this kind of situation.

Rather than deprecate himself -- or the composer -- Steve would sometimes say that he simply "did not connect" with a given work.

Aye, there's the rub -- is it truly disjointed, or does it cohere?

While my first thought would never have been to call it STRUCTURES, maybe that's not as inapt as it might first seem.

But go a step further. If we embrace the legacy of collage /concrete /indeterminacy, these teach us that music is present in unexpected places and can be created in unplanned ways.

This Boulez piece is not the product of indeterminacy. But the listener can decide whether a music seems disjointed, and whether it pleases or displeases him.

Badly played and/or recorded by Pierre Boulez and Yvonne Loriod:
the FFFFs and PPPPs are being ignored. A funny looking score and
extreme dynamic range seem to be the only things of interest here,
so removing the dynamic range only leaves the score to look at.

I brake for chezlogs!
