Speaking for myself I would maintain that any attempt to clutter up the house with a turntable and hundreds of LPs on suitable shelving would undoubtedly precipitate a divorce. I can undoubtedly get a turntable in Canberra but to buy LPs to play on it would mean a trips to Melbourne and Sydney. Meanwhile, downloading and processing Sabine Devieilhe's wonderful 'Mirages' was completed in a matter of minutes. And yes, it did come with the booklet.

The answer to the question is "fad." Fads have no rhyme or reason. They just happen.

I only discovered the album courtesy of You Tube where there are clips of Mme Devieilhe and M. Roth recording the album. I haven't come across any previous mention of the album in this group, which isn't to say there isn't one. I tried using the search engine in Classics Today, which couldn't find Sabine Devieilhe at all. Perhaps the fat guy with the super-sized dinner gong saw the name Roth on the cover and hurled it into outer darkness. It certainly makes us think again about people like Thomas and Delibes.
