Yeah, he sounds a lot like his son.

I'm surprised at how good it is. The lyrics (I know the piece is a joint effort) aren't bad at all. I'm sure Freddie Lennon had had an interesting life in the British merchant navy.

Their relationship seems to have been a series of reconciliations and falling-outs.

Freddie married a much-younger woman named Pauline at some point, and she -- using Freddie's diaries -- wrote a remarkable book about the two called Daddy Come Home.
