A new trailer has been released featuring Ncuti Gatwa as
the Fifteenth Doctor.

The time vortex has been opened with a new trailer for
Doctor Who's upcoming season ahead of its simultaneous
global premiere this May.

Audiences will journey the cosmos with the Fifteenth Doctor,
played by Ncuti Gatwa, and Ruby Sunday, portrayed by Millie
Gibson, onboard the TARDIS - exploring the groovy sixties,
the Regency era in England, war-torn futures and more!

Featured in the global trailer is a first look at Indira
Varma's character The Duchess,  who will be causing chaos
in Ncuti Gatwa's first season. Also seen for the first time
is Callie Cooke who will be featured in an upcoming
adventure.

Additional guest stars who can be seen include Anita Dobson,
Yasmin Finney, Michelle Greenidge, Bonnie Langford, Jinkx
Monsoon, Jemma Redgrave, Lenny Rush and Angela Wynter.

The trailer also features scenes from last year's Christmas
special The Church on Ruby Road, where audience first met the
Fifteenth Doctor and Ruby Sunday which is available to watch
in the UK on BBC iPlayer and on Disney+, where available.

Viewers can also expect some more reveals coming very soon
with Easter treats being lined up...

I get the "Season One" thing as marketing for Disney+ if it was
just confined to Disney+ but using it to promote Doctor Who in
general whilst still saying that it's the 15th Doctor is silly.

First season but the fifteenth Doctor?! Any sensible person
would be scratching their head. Disney+ like exclusives, so the
BBC should have let them keep "Season One" as a Disney
exclusive!!!

I'm not sure the majority of the British TV watching public know
or care what the Doctor Who season numbers are... they just
watch it on the BBC when it's on. Whereas the real Doctor Who
fans know what season it is anyway.

It's the US market that they are dumbing down for, and even then
I doubt there's too many people who see the logic of 60th
anniversary episodes of a TV show being followed by Season One!

are released: Season 1 - Hartnell, Eccleston or Gatwa?

Strangely enough, the US versions of the BBC "Doctor Who
Collection" Blu-Ray releases already have multiple Season 1's.
As every classic-era Doctor has a Season One in the USA!

The BBC Doctor Who Blu-Ray collections are marketed by Doctor
number/Season number of that Doctor, in the USA. So the S26 Blue
Ray Collection release was 'Doctor Who: The Collection - Season
26' in the UK and 'Doctor Who: Sylvester McCoy Complete Season
3' in the US... (etc.)

For some reason marketing people think people in the USA find
multiple number one's less confusing than exclusive numbering in

are more likely to start watching from season one rather than
trying to pick up the story from season 24 or whatever.

That might be the case, it's also probably the reason for all
those DC/Marvel comics with multiple issue #1's... I am just
dubious that casual viewers in the USA are going to randomly
pick up Blu-ray box-sets of classic-era Doctor Who in Walmart
without having some previous exposure to the show and how it
works. For me, they are a niche product aimed at Doctor Who fans.

In theory, people in the USA could get just as confused by
picking up the 'Sylvester McCoy Collection Season 1' and
following it with 'Tom Baker Collection Season 2' ... whereas
S24 and S13 is self-explanatory.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to Doctor Who 15.1 in May...
