Thanks for heads up on Berkshire Record Outlet.

Sadly, their mailing costs (domestically at $6 for first disc plus
$1.50 each additional Disc) adds $22.50 to the Kubelik Decca box.

They have always calculated shipping on a "first disc price plus a much lesser
price for each additional item in order," and that always argued strongly
for placing big orders. Certainly not a problem for ordering a dozen jewel-cased
single CDs.

But is $22.50 a realistic shipping and packaging cost for this newer
class of cardboard-based clamshell packaging?

Jerry

Perhaps you already have, but you could contact Joe at BRO with this comment.

Is that really the case? The last time I ordered from BRO, the shipping
was $6 for the first disc plus 10 Cents for each additional disc.

I've got to go check that out. That's quite a change.

I just checked my most recent BRO order which was less than a month ago. The shipping charge was you say. $6.00 for the first disc and $.10 for each additional. Shipping for multi CD sets is charged by the CD not the set.

My sincere apologies for the mistake. The BROINC "additional disc" cost is 10 cents,
exactly as I remembered it. I can only ascribe this to my transcription error as
I was moving my vision back and forth between computer screen and paper.

UPDATE: CONTENTS ANALYSIS OF THE PARAY BOXES (VOLUME ONE 1953-1957) (VOLUME TWO 1958-1962)
Two Frenchmen in America:
Charles Munch recorded 83 LPs (17 mono, 66 stereo) for RCA with the Boston Symphony between 1949 and 1962.
Paul Paray recorded 43 LPs (12 mono, 31 stereo) for Mercury with the Detroit Symphony between 1953 and 1962.
Both labels were long sought after by audiophiles – the RCAs were more luxuriant, the Mercury’s drier and punchier.
Confusion: Mercury’s trademark was “Living Presence”, RCA’s trademark was “Living Stereo”.

In 2016, Sony issued an original jacket box of Munch’s RCA recordings (83 CDs + 3 CDs recorded for Columbia).
My analysis (“Contents List with composers identified”) is published on Amazon, but you have to scroll down a bit to find it.
Now Eloquence is releasing Paray’s complete Mercury recordings in two newly-remastered original jacket boxes: 45 CDs total (includes 2 bonus CDs).
Each box comes with a (different) 44 page booklet.
Scholarly and well-done.

There is a lot of overlap between the Munch and Paray recordings.
As might be expected, both conductors were French music specialists.
One difference - Paray recorded a lot more light music than Munch:
Overtures and short works by Adam, Auber, Boieldieu, Hérold, Massenet, Meyerbeer, Offenbach and Thomas, plus full discs devoted to the music of Chabrier and Suppé (technically Austrian, but there is an accent at the end of his name).
In Boston, this repertoire was the property of Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops (at least as far as RCA was concerned).

Ten of twelve mono LPs (recorded 1953-1955) are receiving their first official CD release (all the monos are in Volume One).
All but one of Paray’s 31 stereo LPs (recorded 1956-1962) were previously released on CD.
The sound was excellent on those “Living Presence” CDs and is, if anything, better now.
New to CD is the 1959 stereo recording of Beethoven’s first two symphonies (in Volume Two).

THE NAKED CARMEN
Electric Rock Opera issued on LP in 1970 (Volume 2, CD 21).
Written, arranged and produced by John Corigliano & David A. Hess, adapted from Bizet’s Carmen.
They used Paray’s 1956 Detroit Symphony recording of the Carmen Suite, plus synthesizer, kazoo and vocals.
As someone who was a teenager in the 1960s, I apologize.
