I just watched "The Tomorrow War" again on Amazon Prime. Might I say
that those regular troop issue future M4 rifles looks like a popgun on
the 300 to 600 lb alien creatures. 5.56 mm ain't gonna cut it, 7.62
gets better, and .50 cal becomes a necessity.

But dontcha know, "recognized firearms experts" assert that the 5.56mm
is "the biggest bullet they've ever seen".

Because anything bigger is a "cannon shell"?

Is that how they reasoned, that, for example, a .30-06 is a "cannon
shell"? I always assumed that they were either morons or lying
through their teeth.

Well, _I_ would consider anyone who classified anything bigger than 5.56
mm as a cannon shell to be an idiot, so....

Well, maybe it /is/. The biggest that /they/ have ever seen.

It's been over 50 years, but I am reasonably sure the M14 rounds I
fired in BCT back in 1969 were bigger than the M16 rounds I eventually
fired for "familiarization".
