According to this 2022 article:

- Jansen is always reclining, her violin pillowed beside her head, or arranged on her hip like a tasteful orthopedic brace. The concerto, which she specializes in, is a perfect chance for her not to outshine the orchestra. She softly imitates them, as if asking, “Did I hear that correctly?” Her radio-friendly attempts to put Vivaldi, Beethoven, and pretty much everyone else into a coma haven’t been overlooked. I’m positive that somewhere a focus group once tried to determine what causes listeners to stream entire albums of classical music. The answer is “not turning the album off right away, because it’s too unpleasant.” In the world of classical Muzak, if you stick around for 12 seconds, you’ll probably keep going for two hours. That’s why nobody can top Janine Jansen, the first person ever to become a superstar by polishing the shrillness out of everything.
But sometimes the shrillness of something is its greatest sign of life...

As fate would have it, the quotebot hit upon another thinkpiece last night, in an online mag. I guess the author, an English teacher in California, was at a recital of a young South Korean violinist, Suneye Park, was touched by the music, and decided he would do Park a favor by taking down some successful classical artists in a weird aimless hitpiece.
Not being blessed with any critical or analytical skills, the quotebot spliced up the hit parts in the piece as if they meant anything and posted these on RMCR. So... this English teacher accuses Jansen of being a 'radio friendly' artist who's only trying not to wake up the listener, or something. Clearly this guy has never seen Jansen perform. And maybe that's good, because if he did he'd write some more hit pieces on Jansen's perceived competitors. (There's a very weird reference to Julia Fischer's Paganini, too.)

I guess the English teacher did a quick google on Jansen and found that Jansen seeks to create a chamber music-like sound while playing a concerto ("which she specializes in" according to the english teacher), which then is translated maliciously into making a "radio-friendly" sound.
Generally the thought behind the piece is: if you're with a major recording label, you've got to be a bad and corrupt artist.

Would "bad and honest" make a difference?
