I am actually moving into the opposite direction: better known
works of music deserve more obscurity. The best examples are
Boring van Beethoven's and Dick Wagner's.

Many of the well-known works shortly after the war have become lesser-known, and vice versa. Liszt's Hungarian Fantasy and Weber's Konzerstück, Wieniawski's violin concertos etc. Whether they deserve to be known at a certain moment in history and deserve to be unknown at another moment seems highly unlikely. External factors determine their 'value'.
